That all depends on why your reading is slow. If you are reading slowly because of issues related to dyslexia, then we could expect reading speed to improve once the dyslexia issues were addressed. You are probably exactly right -- your son's brain is working too fast for his hands to keep up. You can help him using the clay modeling approach described in The Gift of Dyslexia .
